RU Criminal Justice Society Hosted Speaker

LaDonna M. Long gave her lecture in the Gage Gallery.

The RU Criminal Justice Society sponsored a lecture last Thursday by LaDonna M. Long, Assistant Professor of Sociology and Criminology at Capitol University in Columbus, OH. The lecture, entitled “A Critical Look at Intimate Partner Violence,” discussed difficulties facing African American women within intimate partner violence. Professor Long shared that extra barriers, including a general distrust of police and distrust of the ways in which the criminal justice system treats African American men, lead to under-reporting crimes, and then subsequently, to a higher prevalence of repeated physical abuse. Professor Long is a candidate for the position of Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at RU.
